CONTROL - understanding the flea and its life

Adult fleas live on
the pet with the female laying up to 50 eggs per
day which fall off the coat. In favourable
conditions adult fleas hatch in 2-3 weeks; when
less favourable, they lay dormant for up to 12
months. Effective control
treats all flea stages. |

spot-on flea control
|

Monthly spot-on to
the skin kills fleas, plus flea larvae in the
pet's environment/ bedding.
Heavy flea burdens
may need initial fortnightly applications.
"Advocate" monthly spot-on
incorporates the Advantage flea control as well as
protecting against heartworm, roundworm, hookworm,
whipworm and mites.
"Advantix" spot-on for dogs
incorporates the Advantage flea control as well
as repelling and killing ticks, sandflies
& mosquitoes. Fortnightly
application is used for tick control.

Frontline
Plus - flea and tick spot-on
This
product when applied to the skin of dogs will
control fleas (adults, larvae & eggs) for a
month, and ticks for up to 2 weeks. The paralysis
tick is not yet present in our area but
clients travelling into country or coastal
Victoria, or into NSW or QLD, with their pets are
strongly advised to check with the clinic
regarding the best methods for avoiding a
potentially fatal case of tick
paralysis. |

eggs hatching and is ideal to prevent
'hitch-hiker' fleas picked up on walks causing a
flea problem at your home.

all fleas on a pet within 30 min; lasts about
24hrs in dogs & 36hrs in cats. Ideal to use in

parasite spread from infected dogs by mosquitos to
other dogs & susceptible cats, heartworm can
go largely undetected until major damage is done.
Prevention is essential, starting at 6-12 weeks of
